The Grand Dame of Science Fiction

Hi fellow readers! I hope you found something new and interesting to read from last week’s post! I’m still reading Love Poems, and so far, I’m enjoying it!

This week I want to talk about Octavia E Butler. This writer, who is often referred to as the Grand Dame of Science Fiction, was born Octavia Estelle Butler on June 22, 1947, in Pasadena, California. Sadly, she died on February 24, 2006.

In 1995, Octavia Butler became the first science-fiction writer to be awarded a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation fellowship. She was inducted into Chicago State University's International Black Writers Hall of Fame in 2005.

Olivia Butler’s most notable works include:

1. Lilith’s Brood

2. Fledgling

3. Imago

4. Dawn

5. Parable of the Sower

Which of these books would you like to read? Let me know in the comments below!
