Word of the Day: Dissipate

Today’s word of the day is dissipate. Although it is a verb, the word dissipate has three definitions, just like the word mother. The first is to disperse or disappear. The second is to waste money, energy or resources. The third definition is for when the word dissipate is used as an adjective. It is overindulging in sex and alcohol. Maybe, this is how one becomes crapulous.

Use it in a sentence!

After a few hours, the heavy rainwater began to dissipate.

But where did it come from?

The word dissipate is Latin in origin. It comes from the word dissipare.
